The engraved black-polished bowl was discovered in the possession of a collector in Canada after Cypriot officials monitoring online auctions traced its whereabouts.
Researchers from Cyprus' Department of Antiquities confirmed the vessel's age and origin before it was voluntarily returned to its homeland.
